The projects described illustrate the development of my approach to the design and construction of low-cost buildings for education and health. It is an approach that I feel is still relevant today in that it strives to: reduce the environmental impact of buildings and their cost by utilising locally available materials and labour and by simplifying construction; take into account local climatic conditions in order to maximise comfort and increase long-term sustainability by reducing the need for maintenance through careful design and detailing.
